Team Liquid gick vidare till kvartsfinal IEM Katowice 2023

Team Liquid defeated FaZe Clan with a score of 2:1, thanks to which they advanced to the quarterfinals of IEM Katowice 2023. Here, the North American team will meet with Vitality, who lost to Heroic a little earlier and took second place in group B. In turn, FaZe Clan leaves the championship, moving away from the cherished IGS.

The final meeting of the lower bracket of group A started on the Inferno map, which became the choice of the European team. At the same time, FaZe Clan players quickly seized the initiative on the server, showing confident defense and pinning the opponent. In turn, the "liquid" lasted only five rounds, which did not give the prerequisites for a return - 10:5. However, after the side switch, Team Liquid unexpectedly returned to the game and caught up with the opponent. However, in the very ending, FaZe Clan managed to turn the game around and take the lead in the series — 16:14.

Then the teams moved to the Overpass map, which turned out to be the choice of Team Liquid. Here the Europeans continued to stick to their line until the "liquid" ones broke the economy and brought matters to a comfortable margin - 9:6. After switching sides, FaZe Clan tried to return to the game and gradually squeezed out the advantage. But at the end of the second half, the North American team managed to finish off the opponent, thus equalizing the score in the series — 16:11.

Everything was decided on the Mirage map, the first half of which went under the sign of a noticeable superiority of the North American team, which gained a twofold advantage — 10:5. After switching sides, FaZe Clan made a strong comeback, managing not only to catch up, but also to overtake the opponent. Nevertheless, in the end, Team Liquid managed to turn the tide of the match in order to get the necessary rounds and get a sensational victory - 16:13.

IEM Katowice 2023 takes place from 1 to 12 February in Katowice at the Spodek Arena. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and Latin America, Asia and Oceania are fighting for a total prize pool of $1,000,000, as well as a ticket to IEM Cologne 2023 for the winner.
