We continue to follow the action at ESL Pro League Season 18. We are watching the group stage of one of the biggest events of the autumn.

In the fight in Malta 32 teams, divided into 4 groups of 8 clubs in each. They are fighting for a big prize money of $850,000 and in addition to that a trip to two prestigious tournaments: IEM Katowice 2024 and BLAST Fall Finals 2023.

Group A matches are slowly but surely reaching the end, while the teams from Group B are just getting ready to compete at the championship. Among them are Monte and BIG.

The match between these clubs should be quite interesting. It's all about the roughly equal level of play between the teams.

Let's try to figure out which team will be stronger and will subsequently pass to the quarterfinals of their group at ESL Pro League Season 18. The loser will fall to the bottom of the group and forfeit the right to make a mistake.

Form Monte

Let's open the match analysis with the analysis of Monte's form. In this match the Ukrainian club will play as favourites.

The odds for Monte's victory are at 1.7. Bookmakers believe in SDY and company, but they are not in a hurry to call the team the winner.

In fact, such a figure hints at the subsequent parity in the game. I think in reality something like that will happen, as Monte's performance is erratic.

Monte almost never misses tournaments, hence their performances at a lot of TIR_2 events. There are both failures, like the top-16 at CCT South Europe Series #3, and victories, like at CCT West Europe Series #2 and CCT Central Europe Series #5.

However, Monte became famous thanks to his performance at BLAST.tv Paris Major. At the Paris Major, unexpectedly for many, Monte made it to the top 8, but in the first match of play-offs Ledge and GamerLegion.

Before the Long Cologne IEM Cologne 2023 they had a series of unsuccessful tournaments. They finished top-16 at the next CCT, this time North Europe Series #5, and top-8 at the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023.

After a great run at BLAST.tv Major 2023, Monte left the headliner of that roster - BOROS - and was replaced by Astralis Talent member - Danish br0.

Monte have already rolled out the roster at the IEM Cologne 2023 Play-In, where they defeated Brazilian teams twice: first Imperial 16-9 and then FURIA 2-1 in the series.

In the first match of the group stage of IEM Cologne 2023 MONTE took revenge against Gamer Legion, easily closing the match 2-0, giving GL 19 rounds in total.

But in the next match, against the much more formidable Heroic, Monte fell short. Both times Monte were close, but 14-16 on Mirage and 11-16 on Overpass sent Monte here.

IEM Cologne 2023 ended with a match against Cloud9. Monte tried, but Ledge fought back, but Ledge beat the more titled club by a score of 0-2.

Before ESL Pro League Season 18 played a number of local championships. Among them were CCT Series tournaments, where Monte finished in the top 4, and top 2 at CCT North Europe Series #7, and there was also Pinnacle Cup V, where the Ukrainian club again finished in the top 4.

Mapule Monte

The best map Monte is Ancient. There Monte has 7 wins in 9 matches. However, Mirage can also be called a signature choice for the Ukrainian club: it was played 13 times and won 10 of them.

Things are not bad on Anubis, where Monte has 8 wins and 4 losses.

The worst is Vertigo. There Monte have a statistic of 2-4.

BIG form

We continue the match analysis with the analysis of BIG's form. In this match they are destined to play catch-up.

Bookmakers are not ready to believe in the success of the German club. The odds for a BIG victory are at around 2.

Again, there is parity rather than an advantage on someone's side. It's not hard to believe, as BIG are indeed similar to Monte in terms of performance and hard work ethic.

BIG has competed at a lot of championships, but not a lot of decent results. They started the season with a top-9 finish at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023, and continued with a top-16 finish at IEM Extreme Masters Katowice 2023.

There was also an appearance at ESL Pro League Season 17 with a top-20 there. The failures partially managed to cap off the Top-4 at the Elis Invitational Winter 2023, where the team reached the Top-4.

In the middle of the year, the Germans failed to qualify for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, finishing top-11 at RMR Europe and then top-3 at qualification. In the second half of the year they started playing CCT Series championships, where it is worth noting CCT Online Finals #1, with TOP-4, CCT West Europe Series $4 with TOP-2.

Back to the S-Tier tournaments with BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 with Top-9, and then Top-24 at IEM Cologne 2023.

Prior to the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Round, the team played at Thunderpick World Championship 2023: European Series #1 with a top-2 finish. There was also a top-8 at CCT East Europe Series #7 and a win at CCT Europe Series #7.

BIG Mapple

BIG has 3 of the best maps in their arsenal. They are Overpass, Vertigo and Anubis with 5 matches and 3 wins on each.

The most played map is Ancient. BIG have played 14 matches there and have a 57% win rate.

The most unlucky map is Inferno with two wins and two losses. The worst map is Mirage (9 matches, 33% wins).
