We continue our look at what's going on at CCT Online Finals #5. Things are heating up and every day there are fewer and fewer teams left in the race for $200,000 and two trips to the CCT Global Finals.

We are now at the final stage with 6 teams left in the tournament. We'll talk about what's going on in the lower grid, where, by the way, G2 Esports will play. And that's the biggest surprise in the tournament.

We're trying to figure out who will be stronger and get the important win needed to make it to the Top 2.

G2 Esports uniforms

Initiating our match analysis, let's first delve into an assessment of G2 Esports' current form. In this upcoming encounter, they face the top-ranked side, holding odds to win at 1.5. Almost all year G2 Esports have not left the podiums of major championships. Their rise as a TOP team started with BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 and IEM Katowice 2023. Both championships G2 passed confidently and at two tournaments they deservedly became champions.

After a frankly weak performance at EPL Season 17 G2 Esports played at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. In Paris, NiKo and company had a real fiasco, as the tournament for them ended at the TOP-14 stage, which certainly did not fit into G2's plans.

Before ESL Pro League Season 18, G2 Esports made their mark on several other major tournaments. These were BLAST Premier: Spring Finals and Fall Groups, where G2 took top 4 and top 8 respectively.

Next up was IEM Cologne 2023 and finally a win. In the Grand Final they beat ENCE 3-1, thus taking another IEM title for the year.

The last championship was Gamers8. The biggest commercial tournament of the season ended with G2 Esports in the top 4.

G2 Esports started off ESL Pro League Season 18 with a betting tirerable win. They beat Lynn Vision 2-0 in their opening match, but to be fair, they were close to a fiasco on the first map. However, G2 Esports subsequently made it to the play-offs, and straight into the quarter-finals, where they met MOUZ. The Mice outplayed G2 Esports and later became EPL S18 champions.

G2 Esports attended two more events before participating at CCT Online Finals #5. These were BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 and IEM Sydney 2023. Both tournaments the team finished in the Top 4 stage.

G2 Esports started their journey through CCT Online Finals 2023 with a match against Fluxo. Being the clear favourite G2 still gave away the map, but it didn't affect the outcome of the series - 2-1 in their favour.

Next they met Sprout and again they had a tough time. Being the clear favourite, the Samurai fought hard and gave the card away.

In the match for the top finals G2 Esports played against Aurora. Being the favourite in that match, the Samurai lost, and lost dryly, 0-2.

G2's home map is Ancient. G2 have played 8 matches there, winning 6 of them.

Then comes Anubis (3 games, 2 wins), Vertigo (5 matches, 3 wins), Inferno (12 matches, 58% wins).

G2 Esports has no minus winnings on mapx. Among the "worst" choices are Nuke (7 matches, 4 wins), Mirage (4 wins, 4 losses).

Form Guild Eagles

We continue the match analysis with an analysis of the Guild Eagles' form. The newly promoted Eagles will play here as number two, and the odds for a win are at around 2.5.

Guild Eagles is a new name, but the team is quite famous. They are the same Bad News Eagles that rocked last year, making it to PGL Antwerp 2022. They finished in the top 16 there, but the fact that they made it to the Major and made it to the legends stage is something to be respected.

Guild, David Beckham's club, thought so and signed a team from Kosovo. By the way, Bad News Eagles have made some noise this season as well: they finished Top 4 at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR A and Top 2 at ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2023 before going to the Paris Major. There even managed to improve last year's result and entered the TOP-14.

From the acceptable results were TOP-4 at CCT North Europe Series #7 and RES Eastern European Masters: Fall 2023. There were also performances at CCT North, East and Central Europe. Not so good everywhere: two top-8s, one top-16.

Under the Guild Eagles tag, the ex-Bad News Eagles managed to attend three championships. They were CCT East Europe Series #4, CCT Online Finals #4 and A1 Gaming League Season 7. At the first one, the Kosovars finished in the top 16 after losing to Team Space with a 1-2 score, at the second one they finished in the top 12 after losing to ALTERNATE aTTaX and finally in the top 8.

CCT Online Finals #5 Guild Eagles started with a win over Vertex (2-1). Then the opponent was much more serious and the result was the same - in the second round of the top grid Guild Eagles lost to BIG with the score 0-2.

In the match for the third round of the lower grid CCT Online Finals #5 Eagles met ALTERNATE aTTaX. "The Eagles had a tough time, but got the 2-1 win.

Guild Eagles faced Anonymo Esports in a match to advance to the quarterfinals of the lower grid. "The Eagles proved to be stronger and did not feel their opponents.

Guild Eagles Mapple

Guild's favourite map remains Inferno. The Eagles have played it three times in the last 3 months and won all their games there. Nuke is also doing well, with MOUZ winning 3 out of 4 Nuke games played.

Among the good options are Vertigo and Ancient, where Guild has 2 wins in 3 games.

The most undesirable map is Mirage. Guild Eagles have played it 6 times, but have won only once.

I don't expect anything else from G2 Esports at this tournament. It all looks very sad, and it seems that the "Samurai" are waiting for a serious rearrangement in the roster at the end of CCT Online Finals #5. Speaking specifically about this match, I can see Guild taking the card. Everyone does it at CCT Online Finals, and Kosovars are no worse.
