Forecast S9 - IVY

We continue to review the 15th season of Dota 2 Champions League, where 16 tier-2 teams from Europe and the CIS are fighting for a prize pool of $50,000. Today we open the third gaming day of the group stage, and it starts with a match between IVY and S9. Previously, the teams did not hold face-to-face meetings, and today they will have to determine the strongest in the bo3 format.

IVY Form

As I wrote earlier, the team is quite young, but has already shown itself well at the last two stages of DPC WEU 2021/2022 Division II, taking 6th place in the first round, and 4th place in the second round. At D2CL, the team performs a little worse; in the 13th season, the team finished the tournament in 7-8th place.

At the current tournament, the team played the first match yesterday against Zorka, and, being the favorite, lost without a hitch. Despite a tense struggle on two maps lasting 44 and 40 minutes, the victory was out of reach, which dropped the club to 3rd place in the standings.

At the end of February, TheBloodySky was bought out by simply TOOBASED, and Max, a former member of SMARACIS Esports, was invited to take his place.

An even less well-known team, which had not had time to participate in any important tournaments before, and, accordingly, earn achievements. The team also played one match within the tournament, on the first game day. Then their rivals were YNT, and despite all the efforts, two maps of 26 and 36 minutes each brought S9 defeat and getting into the bottom of the rating table.

Illusion has been performing on the professional stage for 3 years, and managed to visit such teams as FlyToMoon, Team Unique, Team Empire. SuperNova is a well-known player who has been in such teams as Fantastic Five, Luna Gaming and is now a member of HYDRA. Less known paradise, managed to visit felt.

Keintseru 's mid picks are Storm Spirit (44 matches, 75% win rate) and Ember Spirit (20 matches, 50% win rate). Paradise prefers Phantom Lancer (93 matches, 65% win rate), and Drow Ranger (47 matches, 72% win rate) over other heroes. SuperNova plays Beastmaster (48 matches, 60% win rate), Mars (40 matches, 52% win rate). Illusion is more likely to pick Rubick (82 matches, 53% win rate), and Earth Spirit (42 matches, 52% win rate). Lilskrip plays on Grimstroke (26 matches, 42% win rate), and Abaddon (19 matches, 63% win rate).

Match prediction

The meeting will not be very expected, but very interesting. On the one hand, the favorites are IVY, but given that they lost yesterday with the same title, their faith in them was shaken. On the other hand, a new team, with very experienced members who played in such well-known teams as Empire and FlyToMoon, which certainly paid off. A draw is highly probable, but I would still risk suggesting a victory for S9.
