The DreamLeague Season 22 group stage is underway. There's not much left to see: two rounds of scheduled matches and re-matches for the play-offs, if necessary.

One of the scheduled matches will be a match between OG and Heroic. Both teams aren't in the play-offs yet, but neither are out of the tournament. Their face-to-face meeting makes sense.

We are trying to find out how this match will end and whether there will be a winner who can significantly improve their tournament position.

OG Form

Let's open the match with an analysis of OG's form. In this match, they play the number one, with odds to win at around 1.6.

At DPC 2023: WEU Division 1 Tour 1, OG were unable to guarantee themselves a top-4 finish and as a result missed out on The Lima Major 2023. Things seemed to pick up during the second round of DPC 2023: WEU Division 1. Then OG made a strong-willed comeback and made it to the Top 4 after tiebreaks.

At the Berlin Major, the team played with two stand-ins and made it to the top 6, but it seems that those stand-ins were the secret to their success. After returning to regular season matches with a full roster, OG looked critically bad, but at the last moment they improved.

At DPC 2023: WEU Tour 3, OG Long Team went down to the wire, but managed to keep their place in the top division by finishing in the top 5 in the third round of the professional season. By the way, at the last DreamLeague S19 OG also took 5th place and this is an indicator, but it is unlikely to be repeated in the new season.

• OG roster: Timado, bzm, Wisper, Ari, Ceb.

After a year-long extravaganza, Ceb is the new OG player. OG resorted to their ultimatum weapon during DreamLeague Season 20, but it didn't help them and OG finished in the top 20.

After DreamLeague Season 20, OG attended another championship of a larger calibre, the Riyadh Masters 2023. Unfortunately for them, they ended it on a Minor note - in TOP-14.

"Closed" the season with a performance at the closed Western European qualifiers for The International 2023. The once two-time world champions failed to make it through the most competitive qualifying round and as a result OG flew past The International.

After failing to qualify for the year's biggest tournament, OG finished in the top 4 at DL Season 21 and ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 Western Europe Closed Qualifier.

2024 started the year with a run at BB Dacha 2024 Dubai and a top-2 finish at DreamLeague Season 22 Qualifiers. Then they finished 2nd place at ESL One Birmingham 2024: WEU Qualifiers and Top 12 at BB Dacha Dubai 2024.

OG went through the first day of DL S22 very well. The team dryly shut down G2.IG and drew with Falcons. The second day was worse than the first: a loss to BB and a draw with GG. Day 3 played to two draws: against Vp and Azure Ray.

Among the favourite OG characters: Keeper of the Light (6 matches, 83% wins), Phantom Lancer (5 matches, 60% wins).

Among the most successful: Crystal Maiden (4 matches, 100% wins), Underlord (4 matches, 100% wins), Alchemist (3 matches, 100% wins), Storm Spirit (3 matches, 100% wins), Void Spirit (3 matches, 100% wins).

Heroic Form

We continue our match analysis with an analysis of Heroic's match form. Here, the South American club is playing as the number two, and the odds for a win are at around 2.3.

Heroic is a new name for the competitive Dota 2 scene. Though the team is well known outside of Valve's professional MOBA scene, the club has been slow to sign a roster in that discipline. In 2023, that changed.

Heroic came to Dota 2 signing South American mix D2 Hustlers, while changing it up a bit. Heroic's final, debut roster looked like this:

Each player is pretty well known at his position and it seems like such a team should work. At least on the local scene, within their region, Heroic look pretty good, though not perfect.

During the 2024 competitive season, the club finished Top 8 at DreamLeague Season 22: South America Open Qualifier #1, Top 2 at BB Dacha Dubai 2024: NA and SA Closed Qualifier, and then won DL Season 22: South America Open Qualifier #2 and DL Season 22: South America Closed Qualifier, defeating BOOM 2-0 in the grand finals.

The last tournament before DL Season 22 was the South American qualifiers for ESL Birmingham 2024. There Heroic again defeated BOOM in the grand finals, thus securing a slot for the first major LAN tournament of the year.

After the first match day Heroic are on the 4th line of the group stage table with 1-1 in matches and 2-2 in maps. They outplayed G2.IG and Ledge or Vp. The second day passed with a similar score: 1 win and 1 loss. On the third game day we played a draw with BB Team and lost to GG.

The most popular Heroic heroes

Natures Prophet and Rubick appeared most often in spades. Both characters were taken 4 times each and have 100% wins.

Vengeful Spirit, Beastmaster and Tusk have appeared a similar number of times. They have won 3 matches each out of 4 appearances.

In this match I bet on OG. Although they are not in the leading positions of the group stage, the European club looks very cheerful and has author's strategies, but Heroic look pretty bland.
