We continue to keep an eye on what's happening at DreamLeague Season 24. The big tournament with a prize pool of $1,000,000 takes place between 27 October and 10 November 2024.

Among the contenders for the top spots are Tundra Esports and Team Spirit. Both teams are playing in Basket B, where they have already played several matches.

Let's try to figure out how the teams' face-to-face clash will end and whether one of the sides will be able to improve its position in the tournament.

Tundra Esports uniforms

Let's open the Tundra vs Spirit match with an analysis of Tundra's form. In this match they are playing as favourites with odds to win at around 1.6.

In the first cycle of DPC 2023, Tundra only made it into the top 4 via tiebreaker, finishing in the top 3 at the end of the season. This gave them an opportunity to play at The Lima Major 2023, which they failed, finishing in the Top 12.

Things got better in the second DPC cycle. Tundra had re-matches again and again they did well, except now it was a Top-2 division match. Things also got better on the international stage at ESL One Berlin Major 2023, where the reigning world champions from The International finished in the top 6.

In the third cycle, DPC Tundra returned to the top of the competitive dota. The reigning World Champions of The International finished in the top 1 in their home league.

Tundra attended DreamLeague Season 20, but they didn't have much zeal to win there. The team failed to make it past the first group stage, finishing in the top 9-10.

At Bali Major 2023, Tundra had a forced stand-in. Saksa left the squad due to illness, but it didn't stop Tundra from reaching the top 3 of the tournament.

In Riyadh, Tundra again resorted to Aui for the same reason. With him they were able to get through the group stage and survive the round robin tiebreaks. All in all, there's an OG vibe of 2022 in Tundra. However, they failed to reach the top-12.

After the not so successful Riyadh, Tundra also failed at The International 2023, finishing in the top 16. After that, they finished in the top 7 at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.

In the 2024 season, Tundra played all sorts of qualifiers, for which they spent the first half of the year. The European-born club went on to finish top 10 at DL Season 22 and top 8 at Elite League.

Tundra's partial rise came at ESL One Birmingham 2024, where the team managed to finish in the top 3. The peak of the 2024 season was TI 24, where Tundra reached the Top 3 and were close to reaching the Grand Final, but failed to do so. Later, with a revamped roster, they reached the top 3 at PGL Wallachia Season 2.

At DreamLeague S24, Tundra Esports drew with Falcons and beat Talon Esports and Heroic.

Among the most popular characters in Tundra spades is Techies. The character has been picked 9 times, and his winrate is at 66%.

Next is Bloodseeker, who has been picked 8 times. His win rate is 50%. Batrider (7 matches, 71% win rate), Doom (7 matches, 57% win rate), Timbersaw (6 matches, 66% win rate) were also picked.

Spirit Form

We continue our breakdown of the Spirit vs Tundra match with an analysis of Spirit's match form. In this match they will play in Underpassdog status with odds to win around 2.4.

In the first round of DPC 2023: EEU Division 1 Spirit took 2nd place. Then the Dragons were prevented from winning by BB Team, who finished the tournament in first place with a score of 7-0. After playing in their home league, Team Spirit visited The Lima Major 2023 where they finished in the top 8.

Later Spirit played the second round of the home league and again finished in the top 2. Going to The Berlin Major 2023 they expected to improve the result of the previous Major, but in the end it got worse: already TOP-12.

Despite the "sluggish" game on the international arena, Spirit still consistently come out of the groups at the Major, and at home they look like the main contender for victory in every game. This was the case in the third season of DPC 2023.

Spirit finished the Eastern Europe final cycle in first place. It took 3 tries to earn the championship in Eastern Europe.

Spirit visited The Bali Major 2023, but the trip there ended in failure. The team finished in the top 12 and didn't make it to the prizes.

Team Spirit made it to the Riyadh Masters 2023 directly into the group stage. The Dragons finished with a score of 8-6 and the second place in Group A.

Once in the play-offs Team Spirit started their way to the grand finals. In the first match they outplayed Team Aster, after a very difficult Long Srpeg on two maps.

Next was BB Team and almost identical series: Spirit fell behind on all 3 maps, but somehow won 2-1.

In the match to reach the grand finals they played against Liquid. After giving up the first map, they cameback on the second and demolished Liquid on the third. At the Riyadh Masters 2023, Spirit were transformed into macro masters. Not least because of this, Spirit became the champions of the biggest tournament of the year.

Before the Long Sogpeg The International 2023, Spirit became the champions of DreamLeague Season 21. In the grand finals, they ran over Shopify Rebellion by a score of 3-0.

At The International 2023, the Dragons are still unbeaten. Spirit became the only team not to lose a single game in the first stage of the group stage, finishing 8-0. They were in dominant form throughout the tournament, taking home the Aegis of Immortals trophy.

Things were not so smooth in the 2024 season. Spirit finished in the top 4 at DreamLeague Season 22 and won PGL Wallachia Season 1, but at the Riyadh Masters 2024 and The International 2024 they couldn't get above the top 8 and top 12 respectively.

At DreamLeague Season 24 Spirit Long Sogpeg started with a draw with Team Waska, beat Palianytsia and lost to Falcons.

Team Spirit's most popular characters

The top most chosen Team Spirit characters is headed by Crystal Maiden. The character has appeared in the peak 6 times and has an 83% win rate.

Apart from Crystal Maiden, Disruptor and Underlord are also appreciated, having been peaked 5 times each with 80% winrate. There was also Skywrath Mage (4 matches, 100% wins), Doom (4 matches, 75% wins), PL, Viper, Slark, Riki appeared 3 times each and has 100% wins.

History of head-to-head meetings between Tundra and Spirit

In the 2024 season the teams have played each other three times: two matches ended in a draw and one game ended in a Tundra victory.

In this match we should expect at least a beautiful Dota 2. Both teams have a rich history on the international scene and know exactly how the game works. However, if we look at the match from a closer angle, it's clear that Spirit and Tundra are not at their peak condition due to recent roster replacements. And they are hitting Spirit harder than Tundra, which we have seen already on DL S24. However, I'm still of the opinion that it's an even game and I'm betting on a draw here.
