The Professional League of Legends is preparing to go on hiatus to give teams time to rest before the Long Term Convening of the main event of the year, Worlds 2023. Before that, however, the regional leagues, including LCK Summer 2023, must be completed.

At the prestigious LCK Summer 2023, there are 3 teams left in the battle for the championship title. Gen.G is already in the grand finals, and will be joined by the winner of the T1 - KT Rolster match, which will be discussed.

"The Rolster Derby is one of the centrepieces of the LCK storyline. At LCK Summer 2023, it's not the first time the teams have met in the play-offs, which only adds to the excitement.

We're trying to figure out which of the teams close in level of play will make it to the grand finals, where they will get a chance to fight against the reigning LCK Gen.G champions, and who will have to say goodbye to the prospects of winning the league, and leave the championship on the 3rd line.

KT Rolster uniforms

Let's open the match with an analysis of KT Rolster's form. In this match they are predicted to play the first number one.

​League of Legends betting sites are cautiously calling KT Rolster favourites for the match, despite the previous derby result. The odds for KT Rolster to succeed in this match are at around 1.7.

Such a figure is a tribute to KT Rolster. They look confident this season, but they don't have an advantage over T1 as such.

Last season KT Rolster went round and round the high places. It's safe to say they blew it.

For 2022, KT Rolster celebrated a top 7 at LCK Spring 2022 and a top 5 at LCK Summer 2022. The main "achievement" was making it to the Top 4 Regional Finals, but it was no use: they still didn't make it to Worlds 2022.

The new season was better. In the first LCK Spring 2023 KT Rolster climbed all the way to the top 3. They were beaten only by Gen.G, who knocked out Bdd and company with the score 1-3.

At LCK Summer 2023 KT Rolster clearly want to at least repeat the result of the spring. In the group stage, KT rolled over all opponents, closing it out with a 17-1 score.

In the first round of play-offs KT Rolster chose T1 as their opponent. Confident after a successful group stage, KT Rolster stumbled against T1 and lost the match with a score of 2-3.

In the first round of the lower grid KT Rolster met HLE, who fell there after an idea-free loss to Gen.G. The match with KT ended with an identical scenario: 0-3 and here KT Rolster are.

Fiora (5 matches, 60% wins) was the most frequently sent to the top line. There was also Jax (3 matches, 100% wins), Camile (2 matches, 100% wins), Irelia (2 matches, 100% wins).

In the forest Maokai (7 matches, 85% wins), Sejuani (4 games, 75% wins), Viego (2 matches, 100% wins).

The centre line was occupied by Azir (5 matches, 80% wins), Sylas (3 games, 66% wins), Kassadin (2 matches, 100% wins), Ryze (2 games, 50% wins).

Shooters set is standard: Varus (4 games, 50% wins), Lucian (4 games, 100% wins).

Sapports are diverse: Nami (3 games, 100% wins), Ashe (3 games, 0 wins), Varus (2 games, 100% wins), Miss Fortune (2 games, 100% wins).

Form T1

We continue the match breakdown with an analysis of T1's match form. The title club in this match will appear in the status of an outsider.

Bookmakers are not ready to give primacy to Faker and company. The odds on their victory are at a level around 2.

In fact, we are facing two equal teams, but still T1 in this split left behind an unpleasant trail that stretches to the play-offs. It remains in this match as well.

Last season T1 showed a standard level of play. The team reached the top of the table in all TOP tournaments, but always lacked something. They won at LCK Spring 2022 and then three consecutive top-2s: MSI, LCK Summer and Worlds 2022.

The curse of Top 2s carried over to the 2023 season as well. At the Long Run of the Year, Faker and company took 2nd place at LCK Spring 2023, and then finished third at MSI 2023.

LCK Summer 2023 was a real challenge for T1. The team made it to the play-offs, but did it with difficulty, taking 5th place in the group stage with the score 9-9.

There were problems for the main protagonist - Faker. The legendary mid laner injured his hand and it obviously affected the overall playing conditions of T1. But now Faker is kind of back on track.

The Faker factor has played out. T1 defeated a serious opponent in the person of Dplus and made their way to the next round, where their opponent will be KT Rolster. The latter, by the way, chose T1 as their opponent.

Next up was no less capable opponent than Dplus. Faker and company played against KT Rolster and won that match with a score of 3-2.

The opponent in the match for the play-offs for T1 was Gen.G. The first tried, and even started the game with the score 2-1, but it didn't work out: Gen.G camebacked, and Chovy was better than Faker.

Over the last 5 games the score is 3-2 in favour of T1. T1 have beaten KT in all play-offs.

Given the head-to-head history and the result of the last match, I would lean towards a T1 win. KT Rolster seems to have a mental block to win against T1, even though they can clearly play, which they have proven many times during the season.

In general, I believe in T1, but I'm confident in a close game.
