/RLCS 2022-23 - Winter: Sub-Saharan Africa Regional 1 - Winter Open has ended. As part of the competition, which took place online from January 27 to 29, sixteen teams from Africa fought for a total prize pool of $20,000, as well as rating points. The Limitless team became the champion of the event, defeating Orlando Pirates Exdee 4:0 in the grand final.
The tournament for the South African team started with three devastating victories over Nkosi Ballers (3:0), Team Espionage (3:0) and AIPX Gaming (3:0) in the group stage. By finishing first in Group A, the team qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition and got a chance to better prepare for their next opponent.
Already in the playoffs, Limitless continued to demonstrate a confident game, first breaking Red Crown Esports (4:0), and then coping with ATK (4:0). In the grand final of the tournament, the Noxes wards defeated Orlando Pirates Exdee (4:0), thanks to which they became the champions of RLCS 2022-23 - Winter: Sub-Saharan Africa Regional 1 - Winter Open and earned the first points in the winter split.
With this victory, the Limitless team secured the first place on the regional leaderboard, thereby increasing the chances of getting into the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship Wildcard. Now the gap from the closest pursuer, the Orlando Pirates Exdee team, is 34 points.
