Mirage is a map that needs no introduction, it is the most popular map in matchmaking and extremely popular among esports teams. Valve does not dare to radically rework it, which means that the map has already been studied up and down and "defaults" are known to all professional players and most average players.

In this guide, we suggest you get acquainted with the extremely popular and no less useful smoke for the position of the upper connector (top conn).

First of all, we need to set up our own grenade training server. We perform all the steps in stages:

1. We create a map in the "Training with bots" mode and choose any side, but it will be more convenient for the attack side.
2. Open the console and enter the following commands:

Memorize these commands, or make notes on the desktop, they will always be useful for practicing spreads on other maps as well.

Immediately after entering these commands, we can start our training.

Smoke #1

This smoke is most often thrown by the defense side at late timings to keep the attacking team out of the connector, or it can be used offensively for a post-plant situation, so that the defending player from the short side and the connector has difficulty in retake.

First of all, we become in the marked corner.

Then we need to aim at the end of the black mark, it will be more clearly visible from the side of the defense respawn, but we need to throw it strictly from the corner.

We aim while sitting, then release Ctrl (if you have the "sit" button assigned to it) and throw.

The smoke lands clearly on the top of the connector.

Smoke #2

This smoke will allow the attack to quickly cut off the connector from site A and, in combination with other smokes, allows the attack to move freely around the bombsite.

First of all, we stand on the corner that is marked with a sight.

Then we bring the sight to the edge of the chimney.

After that, we reduce it with an antenna on a neighboring building.

The smoke lands clearly on the top conn position.

Why is it necessary to throw smoke at the top connector?

This smoke helps the attack to take over site A without fear of being killed from the connector or from the short. But sometimes this smoke can play into the hands of the defense side, because if you discard it by timing, it makes it difficult for the attack to go from mid to the point. Use this popular and useful smoke with your head, it may not always work in favor of your team.
