Prispotten för Halo World Championship 2022 kommer inte att ökas genom crowdfunding
/The organizers of the Halo World Championship 2022 have officially announced that the prize pool of the upcoming championship will not be increased through crowdfunding. As a result, the participants will compete for a prize of $1,000,000, which caused the ire of professional players. The sudden announcement puzzled esports players, and many of them expressed their anger on social media following the organizers' controversial post.
Today, we're sharing an updated approach to crowdfunding that will benefit the entire Halo esports ecosystem. Our biggest prize will be up for grabs at Halo World Championship 2022 — $1,000,000.
It is noted that last season all majors in the Halo discipline received a significant increase in the prize fund due to crowdfunding contributions. A similar crowdfunding bonus was promised at Halo World Championship 2022, but that promise was canceled at the last second. At the same time, the organizers claim that instead they will direct the funds to new initiatives.
Immediately after that, the players of FaZe Clan, OpTic Gaming, Sentinels and other top teams attacked the developers with anger.
Despite the outrage, the 343 Industries executive believes that the elimination of crowdfunding bonuses for Halo World Championship 2022 will only benefit the scene in the long run: "The Halo World Championship 2022 prize pool will remain at $ 1 million, which is a lot, and funds will continue to invest in the development of the scene and the addition of new tournaments".
Halo World Championship 2022 will take place October 20-23 in Seattle at the Seattle Convention Center. As part of the championship, twenty teams from Europe, Mexico and North America will compete for a total prize pool of $1,000,000, as well as rating points.
